In the luxurious neighborhood of Kalorama, Washington, D.C., there sits a white house ideally situated for those who have some connection with the actual White House. In fact, just down the road live none other than former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. No one except the very wealthy could possibly afford to buy and maintain the $5.5 million colonial home. But who is the privileged person who nabbed it?

Well, it turns out that the stunning mansion was bought in December 2016 by Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka. She’ll be living there with her husband Jared Kushner and their children Arabella, Joseph and baby Theodore. It’s certainly a beautiful area to be in – but let’s hope there’ll be no tension with the neighbors.

Just before President Trump took office, Ivanka had a meeting with Michelle Obama that ended up lasting an hour. It seems she gets on well with her, at least. So despite their families being at opposite ends of the political spectrum, perhaps they can still have get-togethers in the 6,870-square-foot home.

Moreover, the neighborhood in which it’s located isn’t the only noteworthy thing about the house. It was designed by the famous Washington architect Waddy Butler Wood and completed in 1923. Wood also created the city’s Woodrow Wilson House and Main Interior Building.

And before the Trumps moved in, the house underwent a major renovation. In 2014, in fact, it was completely modernized under the eye of architect Christian Zapatka. His award-winning firm subsequently gave the property the sleek look it has today. So this is a home that bestows a considerable amount of prestige upon its owners.

Its previous owners might give some people pause for thought, however. According to The New York Times, the house’s last occupants were Dan K. Rapoport and his wife. Rapoport is a Russian financier who reportedly opposes the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, a man whose relationship with Donald Trump has raised many eyebrows.

Indeed, even buying a house is now a potentially controversial act when it comes to the Trumps. However, according to The New York Times, no one in the neighborhood seems to be objecting to the family’s arrival. A million-dollar mansion needs somebody to live in it, after all.

The house is very spacious, which is good for a family with young children, but it’s also very white. And any parent will tell you that white decor is unlikely to stay white for long with a baby around. Still, Ivanka employs a nanny, so clean-up duty probably falls to her.

A lot of Ivanka’s work requires the former model to look put together and stylish. Needless to say, this is no easy task for a mother of three young children. For this reason, it’s a good thing there are mirrors near the front door.

In fact, there’s a lot of glass in the house in general. Gorgeous French doors allow sunlight to stream through some rooms and provide a great view of the lush greenery in the gardens outside, too. The kids will also be able to play outside while their parents work – and their Secret Service protectors look on.

The stairway is also lined with glass. It leads upstairs to a huge second-floor kitchen, which is decked out with modern appliances. In fact, it has even got a flat-screen TV attached to the wall. Another large window provides a lot of light.

The kitchen will probably be Ivanka’s favorite room. She told People in 2016 that she loves to cook with her kids. “[Arabella] helps me in the kitchen,” she said. “Baking is a fun thing to do with kids because there’s a lot of mixing and pouring and measuring. And that’s something we enjoy doing together.”

In fact, that isn’t even the only kitchen in the house. In addition, there’s another one on the lower level. It’s a fancy “caterer’s hall” for use during parties. Indeed, it also has its own shower, which makes seven bathrooms in the house overall.

The master bathroom is incredibly luxurious, of course. It has a massive shower, another large mirror, a soaking tub, beautiful fixtures and plenty of storage space for trinkets. There’s even a seat in the shower for a more relaxing bathing experience.

There’s certainly plenty of room in Ivanka’s house for her to host important meetings should she wish to. However, her role in her father’s administration remains ambiguous. Indeed, ethics advisors have expressed concerns about nepotism and potential conflicts of interest on this subject. Ivanka’s presence at a November 2016 meeting between her father and the prime minister of Japan has proved especially controversial.

Furthermore, Ivanka’s pre-White House fashion line was dropped by Nordstrom in February 2017. This development subsequently prompted an angry tweet from President Trump. But Ivanka can at least store any leftover clothes in the two walk-in closets that the house boasts.

Outside the walk-in closets, meanwhile, lies the master bedroom. It features a wood-burning fireplace, one of five spread throughout the house. Moreover, its glass doors lead to a balcony that overlooks the neighborhood. And of course, as with all the other rooms, it’s gigantic.

The kids are already enjoying the local playgrounds, according to Ivanka’s Instagram account. In addition, they have a place to play inside as well. However, the house’s playroom is unlikely to look as pristine as it does in the photo above for much longer.

And Ivanka is in luck, because the house seems perfect for Instagram, inside and out. Another picture posted by her showed baby Theodore sitting happily inside a cot in his nursery. So clearly the house already has his seal of approval.

It remains to be seen what will become of Ivanka’s political career. But in the meantime she and her family are living in the lap of luxury. With all the high-class amenities, beautiful scenery and welcoming neighbors, it’s unlikely they’ll ever want to move out.
