Many decades ago, a 14-year-old superfan composed an eloquent letter to movie star and musician Barbra Streisand. In the message, the boy tells his hero that he’s a big fan of her work, and he even makes a remarkable proposal. This boy, as it happens, was named Richard E. Grant.
Since penning this letter, Grant has gone on to become a star in his own right. He first came to people’s attention in the 1987 flick Withnail and I, but he more recently made waves in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, which was released in 2018. Alongside his co-star Melissa McCarthy, Grant was nominated for an Oscar for his appearance in the film.
