The time from America’s entry into World War II in 1941 until the end of the Vietnam war in 1975 spans 34 years. During these there was a third conflict, the 1950 to 1953 Korean War. So, if you started young enough in WWII, it was possible to serve in all three of those conflicts. And some servicemen did just that. 20. Colonel James H. Kasler

Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1926, James Helms Kasler signed up with the U.S. Army Reserve in 1943. In May of the following year he began service with the U.S. Air Force and was sent to the Pacific theater of World War II with the rank of sergeant. There, Kasler was a tail-gunner aboard B-29 Superfortresses, and he flew six combat missions in that role.
